Just wondering. At hakwons, the severance was paid on the last day of work. I finished work at a public school 2 days ago and its still not in the acct. Same with the air ticket. The contract says the airticket should be reimbursed before the last day of work, as well... but of course they're always a bit chronically disorganized and slow so it doesn't surprise me they'd be a bit late.

So is it normal for it to take a few day like this? thx.

I'd recommend going to the local police substation with a few bottles of soju and a box of Vita 500 at around 2 am. Pull out some Dixie cups and fill them each with soju using both hands. Hand one to each of the officers present while exchanging polite greetings with honorifics. Bow frequently, but not pretentiously. Use eye contact sparingly.

Explain your situation slowly in Korean, using a deep voice, with a hint of pity. Talk about your hard work, your love of Korea and its people, and your desire to share your experience with your family back home.

Acknowledge the amount of soju remaining in each officer's cup, and offer more. Even if they refuse, pour more. Be sure to engage them to the point that they are ignoring distress calls to hear your plight.

In the end, hand them each a bottle of Vita 500 and leave the box with the remaining bottles in a conspicuous location. Explain to them that with your severance pay you will be able to go home and live humbly while sharing your great experiences in Korea.

I bet you'll definitely get it then.

They might not like to lose face or want the conforntation

Why not just go into the school and ask about it politely first?

You catch more flies with honey...

True that.
Just go in and state your case in a calm, polite manner and keep reminding them of your leaving date.
When I finished my public school job at the end of August there were a few issues, but I got it sorted quickly without getting angry or causing anyone to lose face.
I had everything in my account before I flew home.

it's nice to see some honesty, not all hogwons in RSK have a bad rep, but it's those that do that get all the attention.

enjoy your windfall!!
