It is plausible to believe that there is a sizable percentage of American expats living in Korea, even some that are/ were part of the military (like I was/ am).
With all the hype being said and the anxiety it is creating among people on this forum, I can see these new immigration regulations becoming a major stumbling block to working and to the yearly savings people have stashed away- with possibly having to go home to get a new E2 visa for a new school or renewing an existing one.
I think one of the biggest employers of Americans outside the ESL industry is USFK.
However, I had visited the CPOL human resources site as well as USAJOBS, and most of the jobs listed are either for positions GS-7 and above or have to be a family member that is within commuting distance from the position in question.
I know there are several people on the forum who are currently or were former employees on base.
My question for you is; What are some of the jobs open to those living in Korea (and what would be the minimum requirements for these jobs)?
Who do we talk to who might provide some info about the positions available to those in-country...but I want to ask this question on behalf of those already in Korea who want to stay in Korea with some sense of job security....
Any information would be greatly helpful to the community....
Thanks in advance. |
