|

Here's the situation:
Our friend decided the night before our trek to Seoul and out of Korea to change her mind about keeping our cat for us while we're gone. She'd agreed weeks ago, and we'd been corresponding every day to work out the details.
Now (Saturday - 4:10pm) we are at Yongsan train station in Seoul, looking urgently for someone to whom to deliver our lovely one-year old neutered male cat, Eugene. We'll bring you food, litter, and some money to buy him more. You just need to hang out with him for between 2 and 5 months, when we'll be back to pick him and take him with us back to Canada. We love him and hate to give him to a stranger at the last minute, but we have few options now. We orginally got him from this board, so we hope someone here can help!
Here's the info:
-----------------------------------
The Request
Our one-year old neutered male cat, Eugene, is looking for a good home for the next 2~5 months, before we come back from Russia to pick him up in Korea and take him with us to Canada. We were wondering if you might like to meet him and consider taking him on for this approximate amount of time - although we'd keep you updated about our firm return date.

Above are some action photos of Eugene. The rest of this message consists of details about him, should you decide to consider keeping him for us for between now and as soon as mid-April, although hopefully until mid-August, if all goes well.
-------------------------------
Eugene's Stuff
Eugene comes with a litter box, a bag of litter, a bag of food, a bag of treats, and a cat carrier. He's not fussy about whatever food or drink dishes you provide him, and he hasn't cared much for the toys we've given him in the past. You'll also get 50,000 won for future Eugene-related expenses.
Eugene's Training
Eugene is fully house/Shidae-trained, and easy to teach to avoid going where you don't want him to go, since he responds instantly to the word "no". I've trained him this way to avoid the bathroom, the stovetop, and the front door, and to run to me whenever I call him from another room. I've conditioned him to never bite or scratch us. You might need to retrain him for yourself, but this should go quickly now that he knows the drill.
Eugene's Temperament
Eugene's extremely petting-friendly, holding-friendly, and putting-in-a-bag-and-swinging
-around-friendly. He's generally unobtrusive, but he'll observe you to learn what time you usually wake up, and then start watching you in the morning silently until exactly that time, when he starts meowing loudly - even on weekends when you'd like to wake up later. He also tries to catch anything that moves, with special noises reserved for insects. He will scratch the couch if not provided with a more appropriate place to scratch. If he's not getting enough love, he'll walk around the apartment crying - when he does this, it sounds like he's being murdered in slow motion, possibly with a 9-iron.
Eugene's Health
Eugene's been checked out by a vet and neutered. He's in fine working order, with no manufacturing faults. He now has his winter fur, and he sheds lightly. You'll sometimes see his fur on your black clothes, but rarely on your furniture, and almost never in your cereal.
-------------------------------
Thanks for considering taking care of Eugene for the next 2~5 months.
Please respond immediately if you can help.
Thanks again,
Dmitry |

Hi,
I might be able to help you. I could keep the cat until around the 20th or so of July, if I can wait till tomorrow (Sunday) to get him--I'm moving into a new place without a roommate tomorrow morning, but as of tonight am still living with a roommate--might be able to get him tonight if it's absolutely necessary, but wouldn't want to bother the roommate with it. I would love to have a pet, especially a cat, but don't want the long-term commitment, don't want to deal with taking a pet home later, etc.; however, since this is just a several-month commitment, I think it would be great.
My phone number is 010-8684-4589. Call me if you want to work something out! I live in Haebangcheon in Central Seoul and you could bring him by tomorrow morning.
Hope I can help!

Well if that falls through we will take him. We currently have 2 cats that are friendly and playful. I am sure they would love another playmate. One hitch, we are down by Busan so it would be a bit of a trip to get him.
E-mail me if you need my cell number hardr0ck68 at yahoo dot com |

100,000 per month. I'll care for it. Or rather, my wife will. |

Thank you everyone for your quick replies!
After a 5-hour train ride, a few hours navigating Seoul's subway system, and a needless trip to Lotte Mall, Eugene is exhausted, but safely in the care of the awesome Sara, who seems like a great cat carer.
We really appreciate everyone's willingness to help out, and we'll post again if something changes.
Thanks again! |
