Lee Now Most Common Surname in Vancouver

Smith may still be the most common surname in Canada as a whole, but in the countrys third biggest city Vancouver, the most common surname is Lee, the Vancouver Sun reports. In the Lower Mainland, Smith comes in a distant fourth after Lee, Wong and Chan. The daily said Smith was most common surname in the region as recently as 1991, tracing the change to the citys changing ethnic makeup.

The number of Chinese people in British Columbia amounts to about 400,000, making up 10 percent of the total population there. Most of them live in densely populated Vancouver. According to statistics compiled by the paper, Lee is the single most common surname in the Lower Mainland, shared by more than 5,800 households in the 604 and 778 area codes. Most people with the surname are Chinese, but there are an increasing number of Koreans and a small number of people from England and Ireland.

The Korean surname Kim, shared by 2,387 households, was the fifth most common in the region. The number of Koreans in Vancouver is estimated to stand at about 50,000.

Oh oh! The white way of life is over! I'm sure there are a number of posters here who'd agree that we better kill or expel all of them before they change the laws of Canada to force us all to wear hanboks and eat kimchi!
