Just for the sake of saying something nice, I'd just like to say that I love my co-teachers.
Do we have a perfect relationship? Of course not. But they are so not the clueless, innept prudes that so many other f/t's claim to be working with in public schools.
My CT's, and I have about six at the moment, have been helpful and supportive for the most part and while there are things I'd like to see change, I have to applaud them for their effort and willingness to make things work the way I want them to work in the classroom. Even when I do something that they really don't understand or like, they come to me after class and tell me, quite professionally, what they are thinking, rather than make objections during class time.
I've met other foreign teachers who have glowing remarks about their Korean co-teachers as well. Really wish they'd post here... |

yeah, i've got a really nice co-teacher. she even took me to the pharmacy to get some medicine when i was really sick...and brought me this really REALLY strong homemade ginger tea today...
she's my favourite co-teacher but that being said, i teach with 4 other co-teachers. 2 of which are decent in English. and the other 2 are bad to very bad at English (and showing up to class).
i think the important thing to remember is that people will always talk about the bad things more than the good, but i'm sure everyone realizes that there are some very good KTs out there...but unfortunately it works the other way too |

Mine are great. They all speak well, help me, do anything I ask them to, leave my alone about my lessons, inform me of school news and make sure I am invited to all the parties. |

My middle school CTs do a really good job of helping me out in the classroom. My high school CTs do a really good job of helping me out by not coming to the classroom except in the case of a few really low-level classes. |

I have half a dozen(HS). One is a turkey. 3 are OK/acceptable and 2 are great. Compared to many FTs, I can't complain. One thing they all do(even the turkey)is keep Korean to a minimum-I'd say an average of 97% English in the lesson. |

my co-teachers are great, too! i'm at a middle school and i have 6 different teachers... i really like this because i can learn from many different perspectives and teaching styles and build many relationships... there is definitely a range of abilities, but i find that the teachers with less english fluency (at least those who seem to have less) usually give me the best advice and ideas! they take time to think about the problems in my life (which ISN'T their job at all!) and they always make me feel included at lunch time and in school activities... |

It's always good to see positive threads.
I also have one great co-teacher. He is a joy to be with both in and outside the school. He is helpful, informative, happy and a real gentleman.
He is one of the best Korean people I've ever met. |
