You're talkin to the right guy!!

In Ulsan a full regatta takes place once a year lasting some considerable time.

But on the whole, you're going to be disappointed. It's elusive and ephemeral, and you'll ne'er be in the right place or avenue.

Basically, only unis do this type of thing and god knows where they are.

Rather just arrange your efforts toward the job and do pushups.

You can row and rent a scull out in Misari (the Olympic rowing/canoeiing venue).

What is the best way to get to Misari? Is there a train and/or bus? Do you know anything about rental costs?

Bus is easiest way, then taxi out to the course. Dunno costs. I haven't been there in more than 10 years.

If your in the vicinity of Seoul National University you might make some inquiries there; the university has crew. Some where in town there is a man made lake created for the Seoul Olympics. To find out more you should contact University Athletics.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Very Happy

Dude!! I rowed at school and varsity for 6 years. I'd cut myself to get back in a single!

Is it possible you could provide a few more details?

Sorry, as I posted above, I haven't been there in more than 10 years. It may very well have changed considerably. I would love to get out on the water, too... I rowed varsity myself, and travelled to several countries with my club crew. Missed coming to Seoul'88 by the simple fact that I wasn't a heavyweight.

If you go to Misari, go downstairs underneath the stands. Beside the fitnes area is the guy who takes care of things. I was there over a year ago. There is no formal payment method that I know for rowing. Just cut a deal. I paid 20,000 won for an hour on a scull.

I just finished 20 min on my erg. 5,000 m . Now time to get some pasta into me. My recommendation is to bring an erg from Canada if you'll be here more than a year. I brought mine as oversized luggage, cost $36 bucks with Air Canada.

I won't be back home for a few years... how much do you think it would cost to send it as freight?

I'd love to have packed my Concept II Model C. Except, kiwis have a 20kg baggage limit, and overweight baggage is about 30USD per kilo. I got burned 500USD once for taking my snowboard and guitar and one suitcase the first time I left. I nearly went postal at the airport.

Are you sure about all the airlines? It varies (atleast in the States and Can.) a lot. We had a thread going for a long time on the Concept boards about this. So many Brits especially would come to America and pack up a new erg and save enough to pay for the flight and loads of N.Y. 's best dining..... British Airways had the best deal with oversized luggage/sports stuff.

But too bad if it isn't the case in N.Z. Strange for it being such a sports crazy country? I'm heading there next year for the 24 hour traverse and I'll have to be careful about the gear....

DD

PS. I have a model B - ageless classic and it purrs....still as good as the first day years and years ago. Not many will understand our loyalty Smile

Yup. Take care if you travel with Korean Air or Air New Zealand.

I love the model B for it's sheer ruggedness and bare-bones design. I have (sweet?) memories of sitting on them in dark rowing sheds pulling 2k tests for competitive seats in in boat.

The Southern Traverse has such a massive following now as does the Coast to Coast, they're all most getting more numbers than they can handle which is fantastic. Good on you for getting amongst it.

This crowd sells the Concept II ergs and runs competitions. They probably would also have contacts for live rowing facilities also.

We, Komo Enterprise, are Korean distributor of Concept2 so that we are selling the C2 rowing machine (Indoor Model D & E) in Korean market and planning, operating and sponsoring a Indoor rowing event for rowing clubs, schools, health clubs and companies.

The cost of a C2 rowing machine is 1.6 million (Model D), 1.9 million (Model E), 2.5 million(Dyno) and 440,000 (Slide 2EA) Korean Won (one rowing machine needs 2EA Slides) including delivery cost and installation at your home or office. We offer you of 2 years warranty for the product at free.

Regardless of purchasing, we offer 5 days free use to potential customers so that you can use the machine for 5 days for your prior test.

As mentioned above, we arrange several times of Indoor Rowing Competitions yearly. If you want, we would like to invite you to the events. This year we held on 11, Feb. 2007 at Korea Sport University, so attached introduce this event and application form. If you want please fill in application form and resend us.

Many people from all over the nation have joined the events with a fever of enjoyment. Most of them are general indoor rowing mania including rowers from each rowing club, foreigners like you
and others.
