I'm winding down to the end of an EPIK contract and want to move to a uni in my city. It seems all of them want at least 3 years so I might as well re-sign with EPIK to get another year of experience.

The school I am currently at is about an hour's commute with two transfers. I'd like to go to a school closer to my place in the next contract. Is there a system for this? Do I have to go through a recruiter and all that nonsense?

I was always told that I was employed by the city government but working at the school... so by (logical?) extension I shouldn't have to find a recruiter and resubmit all the nonsensical paperwork (which I have multiple files of in my own position btw & thank God).

I guess a large portion of it boils down to who sponsors my visa? That should be my city's Metropolitan Education Office, right? So if I extend in the program it should be just like renewing with the same employer?

Perhaps I answered my own question.

What about school choice, I don't want to work in an Elementary. I would prefer a High School.

Also, what about these new visa requirements? Will I have to resubmit that crap?

And finally, if I do re-sign with EPIK can I take my week of vacation along with the 2 weeks of additional home leave they offer to renewals?

Is this a stupid question? Has it already been asked a dozen times before?

OK...

I hope my managing coteacher can answer this for me during the coming week. I had hoped the wit and wisdom of the Dave's crowd could set my mind at ease in the meantime. Perhaps I thought wrong.
