I know there are pre-existing threads about this. Thought I'd post my own thread detailing my own dilemna, but I can move the discussion to an existing thread if need be.
My problem:
My contract and visa officially expire at the end of December. My hagwon is laying me off, last day of work being Nov. 30th. They are promising to pay me my severance payment, as well as 10 extra paid days for unspent holidays. I am fairly certain they will keep this promise, as they are also promising to let me stay in my apartment until Dec. 21st.
I am very worried though, that I won't be able to line up a new contract in this time frame, what with the new visa regs coming down the line. I am Canadian, and the RCMP office says it takes up to 3 months for a criminal record check! Does anybody know a faster way to do a criminal record check for Canadian citizens?
I would be more than willing to run back to Vancouver for the consular interview and all that, but I really don't wanna spend 3 months mooching off family. I have a Korean girlfriend here, and it would really suck to be forced out of the country until February or later, all because of some change of immigration laws. I am really, really worried about this.
So, does anybody have any advice for me? What should I do? I'm stressing out bad here....
Thanks. |
