Hi guys, my name is Ty. I am new to Seoul. I am male and arrived 1 month ago from NY City.

Where do all the foreigners/ teachers hang out? I have seen a bunch of English, Australian, NZ, Canadian and Americans on this forum and would like to meet up with any who are interested?

Your best bet to run into foreigners is to hang out in Itaewon or Hongdae. Thats where they gather for the most part. It does depend on what your interests are, but, if you are looking for a drink and some companionship, thats where to look.

Hey - if you mean White people when you say foreigners, don't bother. The White people here suck. Feel free to talk to the Moroccans et al, but avoid the White people.

White people are the necessary break from the Korean environment, without them you can go insane.

It's best to meet people around your neighborhood. Just look for them and be nice. Itaewon and Hongdae are good, too, but don't be a lone stalker in either one. People are weary of lone whities eye-balling everyone.

You can also put a notice out on this site and ask if anyone lives in your area and wants to meet at a bar.

Join a club and go to gatherings. Adventurekorea has lots of good trips, there are hiking clubs and chances to meet others playing poker, doing photography and using fake degrees to chase girls in Hongdae.

Hey thanks guys, yeah for me it I am not particular about the race of foreigners. We are all aliens here and that would be the deciding factor for me, since I am getting a bit homesick not being able to talk to someone who also feels a bit out of the mainstream here...

Moroccans sound cool by the way. Were you joking about that or are there quite a few Moroccans here? I ask cos I have seen quite a few Europeans, but never any Arabs/Moroccans. And they have good food!

As one of you suggested, I would like to meet up for a few drinks with anyone who is interested.

I live near Kyung Beok Palace.

I like music. Especially, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The View, Acrtic Monkeys etc. That sort of thing.
Thanks

Why does everyone here hate other white people? I understand if they look like the 40 skeeze who's just here to hook up with young koreans, but what about all the clean fresh out of college kids?

When I see a white person I usually smile and give them the nod. I think that's how it should be. If there's a good reason for the hostility please clue me in so I don't have to find out the hard way.

Good post. It is good to be around people you can relate with. Even if some of the people on here don't acknowledge that Smile

My my arent we a bit presumptuous. No dont worry. I'm actually interested in making friends here. I already have to contend with under 16 year olds at the hagwon who think they are cool.
Cheers tho.

I think Safblad was being, what we call, a misspelled kant. I also like your taste in music. It's all British. And you're American.... usually Americans who like British music are cool, or pretentious and weird. I'll assume you're on the cool side since your internet introduction was obviously so stilted and awkward it must be a new thing to you Wink If you live in downtown Seoul I'll take you for a drink and kick your ass at pool if you want. PM if you can. Good luck.

Yeah, tried to pm you, but it says I'm not allowed till I post over 25 messages.
Whats the best way to contact you?
Cheers
PS. "Kant" is one of my favourite English words cos I went to British schools till I was 14.
