|
|
For example, many of us have completed numerous contracts with the same organization. Year after year, paying our taxes. It seems that if someone has been here five years or ten years working one contract after another on an E2 visa, then they've at least proven their dedication, acceptance of Korean culture, etc. It may not prove that they are a great teacher, but they are obviously doing something right for the hogwan to continue employing them and usually with a raise each year.
I just think there comes a point, where a long term teacher should at least be given some advantages over the person fresh off the boat. Perhaps another class of E visa, like an E5 for example. A visa that shows you've been here five years and you have the support of your employer, you haven't gotten into any trouble here, etc. A visa class that would allow you to bypass some of the red tape. An E10 perhaps, for people who've been doing this for ten years or more. A visa that would maybe allow them some of the rights that an F visa holder has.
These are just suggestions and I know that some people will ask why do I suppose a long term teacher here is less likely to be a deviant than a new teacher. The answer is that I don't suppose that. I'm just saying that someone who has been doing this a long time has most likely honed their craft somewhat, established some roots here, knows some of the language, understands the culture, owns a car or property here, has invested money here, is involved in clubs or churches or athletic teams, etc., and perhaps deserve a bit of a break because of it. |

The problem is that your ideas are far too logical; make sense; and are based on helping hard-working people make a positive contribution to this country. |

You're both wrong. It's for being married to a Korean. |

I am married to a korean but I am not the only foreigner in this country. I know lots of people who work hard here and have been doing so for longer than I, but they don't have any rights. They should. |

It would be nice if Korea had a visa system like Japan but the haggy owners would instigate a riot. |

Nope that's called an F-5. Save 10 mil a year and then invest it in Korea. After 5 years you shold have the required 50 mil. |

Again you are wrong. The D1 visa is for investors (30 mill minimum I believe) F5 is for those who have had an F2-1 for at least 2 years and it's a permanent visa. |
