I passed by a club in Insadong last night called Helios (very close to the Jongo tower). There were tons of guys in suits chasing girls around to give them passes to get in. Is this the club that everyone is talking about? I was under the impression that Helio was located in Itaewon. Are there 2 of them? If so, which one is better? |

The one thats talked about all of the time is in ITAEWON.
Probably the Itaewon would be 'better' in general.. as the one in Insadong (if you have people with suits and flyers).. I'm guessing that one is super super expensive.. where you have to buy a table and buy side-dish food with your drinks and such.. |

That is Helios Night in Chongak. A booking club. Maybe the same owners, not the same vibe at all. Helios Night will barely let in foreigners at all. They both suck, although I would rather hang out in a booking club than Helios Itaewon. Hehe. |

Booking clubs, from what I've heard are clubs that you pay an arm and a leg to get into. Then they seat you and 'hook' you up wit d ladies.

"BOOKING" clubs are very common. Men pay ALOT of money to buy a table.. and girls go in for free (I believe.. maybe it varies? not sure).
But regardless, the guys working there just keep grabbing women from other tables and putting them at the tables of the men.. if they connect and start talking.. its all good.. or they move the girls around to different tables.. etc.
Its just a very expensive way to meet available girls. But from what I know, most foreigners either don't want to spend that kind of money particularly when 9 times out of 10 the girl doesn't know any English.. and generally a good chance that she's looking to speak Korean to a Korean guy.. rather than being embarrassingly thrown at a foreigner.. |

In the US I was told that some of the Korean booking clubs cost about $250 a table but that it was generally shared by 2 to 4 guys each time, but the price was set no matter what. From what I understood is like what you said T.Beer, it is an overwhelmingly Korean atmosphere and whites almost only go as an invitee. |

The secret is to tip the waiter and do a request. Request a girl who speaks English, and you'll get a girl who speaks English. If you don't tip, you get the first girl he found. |

Always be good to your bartender. Tip well first round, and you're golden. Words to live by.
Or faux-pimp, in this case. |

Hey don't be too hard on Helios Itaewon, they must have the nicest bathroom in Korea. Especially compared to the places with only squat toilets and no sink *shudders* |

Fookin' A. Some of the worst bars have the best crappers, and some of the best bars have the worst, but Helios meets each in the middle zone, and gets a large thumbs up from the resulting alcocraptastic harmonization.
No sh!t! |

i've got no respect for you if you have to go to a booking club to meet a chick.
In the Jong No area, I heard the best night club is Cobra, or something like that. No idea on the price or whatever, but is supposed to be the best if you like Jong No. |
