I've done the search. Saw Chimay mentioned, but not where to buy it. I'm coming to Seoul tonight for the weekend.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy Chimay? Or anything else really good (besides what can be had at E-Mart, Home Plus, and Wa Bar)?
Also a stout besides Coopers and Guinness, perhaps. Or anything where I can taste the hops.
HELP!

Gangnam station, exit 8, look on your left for Platinum. Buffet with unlimited food and beers (choose from 6) is about 29,000. May need a reservation, may not. |

You want hops?
Then Alley Kat Full Moon Pale Ale is DEFINITELY your beer...never mind tha comments to the contrary you may hear/read from the one or two posters who have ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE in/for beer at all! |

I've never seen anyone who's not one of my friends from back home mention Chimay. Good job, DannyOKC! It's a beer than cannot be matched. I surely spent over $200 last time I was in the US on Chimay bottles alone.
Re the above post, no, Alley Kat is nothing like Chimay. Chimay is a trappist ale, and it has three phases of taste. Give Chimay to a wine taster and they will see what I mean. Alley Kat is decent for what it is, but it won't replace Chimay.
Here in Korea, your only option for Chimay substitute will be Duvel. Perhaps Leffe. |

^ yep, it's a treat. Like other trappist beers, it's pretty much for sipping - too flavorful (and just plain heady) to get sloshed on. It deserves to be savored anyway.
Trappist beers can scarcely be beat. I really like Orval a lot too, it's the driest one I've tried (not as popular as Chimay though). |

It's got a pretty high alcohol content as well! Can't even taste it. |

While we're on the topic, is Red Stripe or Delirium Nocturm available in Seoul? For once in my life I can actually afford the stuff and it's no where to be found...OH THE IRONING! |

Ah yeah, good ole Unibroue. I like Raftman and Blanche de Chambly.
I miss the selection of beers at the LCBO. All the domestic beer is horrible here, even worse than your run of the mill American beer. I found Hoegaarden at E-Mart, for about $2.20 a bottle, not bad.
Oh well, at least I'll be able to afford luxurious beers once I'm back in Canada. |
