Simply looking at the moral-enforcing Republicans is all you need to do.

That would account for many people thinking that the end justifies the means... If the end doesn't justify the means, what does?

And does that concept of ethics extend only to people?

What about animals? Trees? Aliens? Hagwon directors? ...

You do know that cheating is happening like crazy in the U.S. as well. What about those who don't feel like they have a moral superiority?
Has the study compared them? This sounds like a study based on faulty science... Yes, some people who think of themselves as morally superior do unethical things... No surprise there... We're all human beings...

Well, that's interesting you would assume all Evangelicals are that way. The core basis of Christian belief is that we are all sinners. Even Jesus said that thinking about committing adultery is as bad as actually doing it. His point was that nobody is perfect. We should try our best, but in the end, nobody can be blameless and free of sin.

He also had some pretty tough words for people who wish to rebuke others and call them "sinners."

Quote:

"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

-- Matthew 7:5, New American Standard Bible c.1995

To understand this deeply, you have to read the Bible and study a little history to get the context. At the time, there were Pharisees walking around who were so obsessed with being perfect Jews that they counted grains of salt before eating, just so they could tithe (give 10 percent) of them to God. They also memorized scripture constantly, and wore little boxes on their heads or wrists, as if to say, "I have God on my mind at all times." (This is why the WWJD bracelets, as a Christian, really bothered me.)

There were certainly good Pharisees with good hearts, too, but as a political and social group, they put a great deal of stress on the public, and used their interpretation of Jewish law and history to control others.

Sound familiar?

Jesus was totally disgusted by this action. In fact, some of the greatest words of dislike that he ever expressed in the whole of the Bible were directed at these people when he called them a brood of vipers (Matthew 3:7).

Not all Christians stand on street corners wearing pith helmets and screaming, "You're going to hell!"

In fact, these people were the ones responsible for Jesus' death (although it was all by God's design, anyway).

Just some things for you to think about.
