So, it's happened to me.
I had a job all lined up with a school in Seoul, a school with links to Australian schools, so I thought I could trust them. My passport is at the Korean embassy in London - I was supposed to be leaving this week.
I've quit my job, given notice at my house and packed a lot of boxes to end my stay in London.
This morning, I got an email advising me that my services are no longer required.
What is my legal position? They have sponsored my visa, so have therefore signed my contract.
Does anyone know any good lawyers in Seoul who might be able to help me out?
Thanks. |

I'm really really sorry to hear about this.
It would be great if there were some way to get the school to compensate you for the inconvenience (I'm not sure there is), but the good news is that it should be quite easy to get another job. If you're ready to come to Korea, start looking for a job now, use that plane ticket (you can enter on a tourist visa) and you can do a visa run to Japan when you work out which school you want. |

With the new regs, would this be good advice? Shouldn't he do all the processing stuff in his (or her) home country? |

The new regs are still pending, aren't they? Even if they're approved, they don't go into effect immediately, right? |

Screw the new regulations. They already approved this visa, so no reason to not do the same again.
OP, just get another job. Maybe you lucked since they sound like d1ckheads anyway. |

Sir/Madam:
Go to E.F.L. Law.Com! At least somebody on the site should be able to give you some solid advise.
God bless, you!

Yingwhenlungwhatnot's right--if these bastards pulled this on you now, it's for the best, as they are obviously scum and you're best off having nothing to do with them.
Good luck suing them though. What are you out, a couple grand max? Lawyers fees will be easily that. Walk away, dude |
