I know this is real general, but I need a bigger screen than this dinky 15" LCD I've got. The size of the windows and the amt of space on the screen...sux. I'll be using it mostly for msoffice purposes, essays and the like. A lot of online work. So, about 19" at least? Does anyone have a good suggestion, or can I just get you to buy it for me... Razz

oh, and my cousin in the states recommended this X2gen 22" widescreen LCD that comes with a cordless phone for $190(incl shipping), but how much would that run me to ship here?

I'm thinking I should just buy here and then sell later...

Shipping from the states to Korea will run you about $100 and then you need to get a power transformer after it gets here.

Best to just get one here.

I saw big beautiful LCD monitors in the 300 something thousand range at E-mart. They are sweet to the eyes. I would guess that 200 might get you a 17 inch monitor at most.

I didn't buy one since I got a laptop, but I am building a desktop system next Spring with a big wide screen LCD monitor. The new ones are so bright, clear, and perfect compared to my 3 year old laptop screen.

i don't know the answer (since "best" is such a subjective term) but i know the best value for money would be to be a generic/no-name brand LCD that uses Samsung's S-PVA or LG's S-IPS panels. when i mean generic/no-name brands, i mean anything that's not Samsung, LG, BenQ or any or the more well-recognized brands in the US. the build quality isn't as good (the casing feels very cheap) but the panel is the same so the picture quality should still be very good. you should be able to get a pretty nice 22" around that price (might have to fork out a little over 200K).

I don't think I need a widescreen, but I guess it would be nice for watching movies and etc. But main purpose would be for reading text all day...@.@ What specs should I be looking for? i went to a PC room and definitely 19-20 " would be nice... is 200,000 too low? I thought that would be sufficient for 19" decent nonbrand

Shocked O.o holy frick...how am I supposed to choose? Razz random scroll and click, or should I be a girl about it and pick an aesthetically pleasing panel... I probably don't have to worry about response time, but what's bare min? and best contrast ratio for mainly text...or is that something I have to judge just by seeing?

I guess 5ms and 800:1 would be about right...the lower the ms and higher the contrast you'll see the price go up.

I picked up a Multicav w1710d 17" model for 160 g's. The 19" model would have been about 200, and it looks great. These are made by Hyundai, and are glass-covered, and the only downside is an occasional reflection, but I'm satisfied by it.
