I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this school? I read one thread through the search function, which speaks of the school negatively, but I couldn't find anything outside of that.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks |

Ask for their website and classroom pictures. From a Google search, they sound like a school that boasts but doesn't have anything to show. This raises a red flag early on. A well established school would have a website in their recruiting posts for teachers.
If you are concerned about living accomodations, ask for pictures of that too. I live in the countryside, and the living arrangements aren't that great compared to living closer to a big city. However, everything else is so I am not complaining. |

In the initial e-mail with the director, he sent me a picture of the foreign teachers and their e-mail addresses. I was confused about why he'd send me a pic of the teachers, but I thought it was good that he gave me their e-mail, because it made it seem like there's nothing to hide that talking with a current teacher would bring to light. Lets hope that assumption is correct...
I will definitley ask for pictures of both, I was planning to request them when I interview with him. Hopefully the teachers will e-mail me back in ample time with the information I asked. |

A few years ago, i heard alot of complaints about that schol centering around the apartment, and scheduling.
Things may be fixed now.
Have you searched the schools' name? |

There is nothing really wrong with connecting you with other teachers. It's a way to sell the school. They think if other teachers had a good experience then it will help when recruiting new teachers.
The school I worked for in Japan for 4 years did the same with "testimonials". I don't think it is good or bad, just neutral. If you have never been abroad, then it gives you some contacts so you don't feel alone in the process and can learn about the area before going.
You may want the pictures before the interview. The school I work at sent 14 pictures. We postponed the interview until the pictures were sent. I was impressed considering all the other schools sent just 5, and three were of the same apartment from 3 different angles, lol. Usually one of the other two pictures was blurry. It didn't give me an idea of the working environment, and that is probably the most overlooked factor in deciding a school to work at.
When you get the pictures,
Are the classrooms clean? Are you going to end up teaching in an all pastel elementary school setting or do you want to teach in a real classroom? Does the reception office area look like a dentist's office? Will you want to walk into a school like what you see in the pictures every day for a year? |
