For those of you teaching in high schools..
This university entrance exam on thursday is big stuff and I'm just wondering if anyone else is seeing students start to lose it 48 hours in advance?
I'm also noticing that my 2nd grade students tend to get very tense when discussing it because they know it's their turn this time next year.
I feel so badly for some of these students. I wish I could do more than just say... "don't worry, you'll do fine... I'll pray for you... blah blah blah..."
It's not much consolation. |

I'm at a HS, but once again I appear to have been kept in the dark.
Would I be right in thinking that these exams are sat away from school? I only ask as one of my CTs did mention today that about 6 of the teachers will be away from school on Thursday because they have to attend a 'meeting'. |

Let the Korean madness begin.
I don't feel sorry for them because it's their way of life.
I wonder how many will commit suicide after the test....... |

The test will take place at selected test centers in the city where you live. Students who live in rural areas will be taken by bus to the nearest city center to take the test.
If your school was selected as a test center then Thursday is a day free from work. My whole school is shutting down on Thursday because a load of teachers were selected to act as proctors. There are many high schools who are open for class on Thursday.
My 3rd year students were all smiles today in class. We had a nice chat session in class. I had a lesson prepared but when I walked into class and saw how hard they were studying I thought a nice relaxed chat about nonsense would maybe help. It actually did help. They were laughing in class and enjoying themselves. We talked about whatever popped up in the conversation. Luckily my 3rd years are able to have a fluent conversation about most topics. It makes teaching them a breeze. |

This just in: SMOE is requiring all foreign teachers to report to other schools where the test is not being held, where they must wait. They are welcome to bring work, or a book to read. They are expected to report by 9am, and will be dismissed at 4pm.
Check with your adviser to learn where you need to report.
Teachers failing to report will face severe penalities, including a police-administered drug test with forced catheter insertion, followed by six more degree verifications before the end of the year. |

I've actually noticed it become less important over the past three years. It used to be far more important for far more students. Hopefully the trend continues. |

I stopped by the grade three academic classrooms to wish the students good luck just before lessons started. They seemed pretty stoked, actually. Hopefully they can sustain that attitude for another 32 hours. |

I don't know whether it is sat at school or not ... but it does appear that teachers may not be supervising at their own school ... What I do know is that my Middle School will have no classes on Thursday because most of our teachers are going somewhere to supervise the Uni Entrance Exam .. And I actually have a day off ...
