It's only the beginning.

Tax protest in Strasbourg:

Dec 16, 2007: The Strasbourg Tea Party.
Will it really happen?

Tax protest

When I read anything about tax protests I always am reminded of "The Rise and Fall of Great Powers" where the author pointed out that the rise is due to a State being able to have access to its citizens' wealth for purposes of war and other projects. It doesn't matter how rich a country is if the government can't get at the wealth. I think of pre-Revolutionary France where the richest part of society was immune to taxes.

In the end, selfishness is a self-defeating strategy.

Only empires rise and fall. Free societies can continue forever if they follow the principles of liberty:

including:

no taxes on income

no taxes on property

sound money backed by gold or silver

no war unless attacked

an all volunteer army / no draft

maintain the right of the citizens to bear arms

freedom of speech and press maintained absolutely

no socialistic programs

maintain a free market

no government subsidies for anything

America was more free and more prosperous before it became an empire, before the Income Tax and the Federal Reserve, as pointed out by Alan Greenspan.

Today the poverty rate is 12%. During the roaring 20's and even before the poverty rate was more than 40%. I also remeber studying how the bank and trust barons had their way with the Senate during the 19th century. Point is, however peachy things were 100 years ago, things still weren't perfect.

Everyone must have the opportunity to learn to read and to write and to calculate 'everyday' arithmetic.
Remedial training programs are long overdue and worth the cost.
Everyone must be cognizant of the workings and activity of government, and all elected representatives and all government employees must be answerable to their constituents.
Decisions are made by those Individuals who participate; corporations do not have a vote.
