And about how much are they? If I want to pay on a plan, what do I do? Do I need sponsorship in order to do that?

The resolution sucks. Really just used by people who are trying to compensate for a lack of personality.

No plan. Just buy the phone. Don't need sponsorship, but it's a lot easier with it.

If you wait about a month or two, the new phones coming out have good resolution. You can buy them at any major telecom store, they are everywhere and should be pricy, but I am thinking about it next spring when the prices will come down. My current camera phone's resolution sucks, but then I don't use it that much anyways. The new phones will also allow you to take films too.

I just saw about a month ago they came out with some sweet new phones...the resolution is good on them and they have video cams--you can record up to a 19 second message with the moving picture being recorded. It's pretty cool!

Surely a half-decent digital camera would be much better and much more useful in the long-term than a camera phone?

I'm about to get to Korea and was wondering if the phones sold over there are compatible with countries like Australia?

My girlfriend's phone cam can do pretty good photos and movies. If you wish, I could send you an example via e-mail.

Both our phones are able to e-mail the photos to someone. This is kind of cool because we can take the picture, and within 2 minutes, my father in Canada can check his e-mail and see what I'm doing.

On the down side, my girlfriend can call me and say "take a picture of where you are this very instant!" to check up on me.

I could have some pre-saved photos of me in a library or PC bang, but then she could counter with "....and stick your tongue out and close your eyes!".

Sadly, no, it's a different kind of CDMA system here.

IS Oz on the CDMA standard? As far as I know, North America, Japan and Korea are on CDMA (although Canada does have GSM as well-"Fido". The rest of the world uses GSM (I think). When I inquired about buying a phone in Canada (for the English display) to use everywhere in the world I was told I would have to get a "tri-band" phone. This would allow me to use the phone anywhere in the world. I would then have to get the phone "unlocked" for a company like KTF, SK, etc. to hook me up to a plan. But then I would be able to use "SIM" cards when I went to countries that are on the GSM standard.
