I just got HD cable TV. My package includes 10 HD channels and a few other goodies for about 31,000 won a month. The HD channels include the Korean standard channels SBS, EBS, KBS and MBC; movie channels like CGV, Super Action and XTM; and MBC ESPN.
The foreign channels offered are CNN Int'l; BBC World; CNBC; CCTV9 (programs about China all in English, as opposed to CCTV4 on regular cable which is entirely in Chinese); Star Sports; Australia Network; NHK World (Japanese channel with a few English-language programs); and ETTV (Taiwanese station all in Chinese). |

Hey just curious,
Do you have to switch over from your regular cable box to your TV in order to watch the HD channels? I have Gangnam digital cable but in order to watch true HD channels, I have to get the signal directly through the TV rather than the cable box. Doing so, I get 6 HD channels. When I watch XTM or CGV, a movie sometimes says it's 'HD' but it just looks like regular cable IMO.
What's the name of the package you got by the way? Right now I'm paying around 25,000 for my digital cable deal which offers the HD channels plus around 90 more. I always hear of people paying 5-10,000 won for cable but in the 3 years I've been here, I've always paid 18,000+, even when I lived in Cheonho. |

I don't have a full HD TV, it's a 36-inch JVC CRT. I am thinking of getting a Samsung Cannes 50" PDP, which is full HD.
And well, digital cable in the U.S. costs a heckuva lot more than in Korea. |
