Pretty cool; really busy when I went. I never got into Warhammer, but the sound of dice and the smell of cheetos (or the Korean equivalent) brought a tear to my cold, black heart. |

I would love to play some Warhammer, but the models are far too fragile to travel with.
I have 3 armies back at home; Tyranids, Skaven, and 40K Orks. |

Hmm...jeez, how to describe it. Do you know that big art store in Hongdae? Go to the end of the street that it's on, and you should see it. Hongdae is kind of a maze in that part, so, sorry I can't give you better directions. |

The US army base at Yongsan has a game shop open on Saturdays with Warhammer, D&D, Magic the Gathering and a bunch of other stuff. And non-army people can get signed in. (You can email me if you are interested, I'll give you the gamer organizer's phone number)
And, this Saturday is D&D World Game Day!
Here's their Yahoo group:

And the organizer's website:

While I definitely don't want to get back *into* Magic, I really do miss the hell out of booster drafts.

JDog -
Sincere thanks for the link - pickup games of 40k are one of the things that I miss from home. It'll be nice to have a chance to field some Orks and Grotz again. ( Also sounds like it'd be a nice place to practice Korean..structured situation, relatively limited game-related vocab...cool.) |

The mental image that conjures up is quite amusing. |

Scotticus -
By pickup games I mean just showing up at the local hobby shop and
playing against whoever happens to be there. It's a lot of fun for the kind
of unrepentant, un-reconstructed,
reveling-in-the-dorky-good-natured-fun-of-it-all kind of geek that I am.
So, did you find the sports-lingo / geekiness juxtaposition funny, or was it
something less obvious? I'm a little confused as to what you meant.
( No antagonism intended.) |

Orctown was surprisingly busy. I really hope this catches on in Korea. My theory about why Koreans are so late to rpg's, tcg, and tabletops is because, just as they started to spread from the states, around '97, the whole fiscal crisis hit, and it was vastly cheaper to just go to a pc bang. But now that koreans have cash to burn and more free time (especially in college), these will take off. |

Does the store have models for people to use? Or does each player have their own?
This might not catch on big with foreigners. It's a lot of space and hard to transport, for the ones of us who are not here for a long time.
I will check it out some time. Maybe I can join up and play a game with someone or something. |

I'm actually doing an interview with the owner on Saturday; I'll ask.
What's cool is that they have a painting station; never seen that before, really cool idea for a miniatures store. |
