Hey, I've got good news. I've managed to get space in a gym. Now, the weather can't stop us from practicing.
I'm not making any money off of this, but it'd cost you W10,000 to use the gym as a guest. I made a deal with them to use the space in exchange for access to the facilities.
The class is a full two hour class. (Don't let the length of the class scare you; you'd finish deeply relaxed and energized, not exhausted.) It is, moreover, a system which you could learn and take with you. That is, it is a standardized sequence. You only need to learn the sequence, and you could begin to practice at home, and then meet with me on Sundays to deepen and refine your practice.
If you are interested, PM me your e-mail address. I'll put you on my group e-mail list. I think this is a real good way to build a yoga community here, and give use a chance to do something that is...well...good for the liver! Also, it'd be a great thing to do before you go to the beach. . . .
The gym is close to Bujeon-dong.
Here is a book on the style:

The book is called "The Sivananda Companion to Yoga" |

The gym is in seomyon, in a place called "Migliore."
If you pay the W10,000, you'll get access to the gym for the day. This includes a sauna. I recommend using the sauna before class so that you can loosen up deeply for a great practice.
Also, there is a theatre upstairs. There are many restaurants, stores and a supermarket in the building. So, you can kill many birds--in a non-violent yoga way--with one stone, should you choose to come.
Tell your friends, and if you want on my mailing list, PM me your e-mail address.
The first class is Sunday, 11:00-1:00. On the sunny days, you can proceed directly to the beach after you're done, feeling great. |

Classes are going well, but we are going to have to switch to a Saturday time slot. So, what I am wondering is what time would be best for those of you who are seriously interested in coming. 11-1:00 or 3-5:00?
The 11-1 is great, but some people have to teach during this time while others want to go to the beach after doing yoga; the 3-5 is great since no one really teaches at this time.
I could use some feedback, so let me know. |

Just an update:
We practice now from 3-5:00 on Saturdays.
Also, we are arranging it so that if you come four times, the fifth time is free.
All the proceeds, after we have covered the cost of the facilities, will go to an orphanage (we're still in the process of creating the system for it to happen, but it'll begin to happen soon). So, this is a way for you to expand your yoga practice. When you come, you'll be doing some kids some good. |

This post must look like a long conversation with myself! Truth is, a few students have made it into my classroom through this thread. So, there is a conversation.
Class is going very well. There is a solid core of students now--some really cool people, I must say--and more people are e-mailing me to get involved. Some of the students are getting serious about the style and are thinking of getting ceritified. (I got certified after my first contract in Korea--I had the time and the cash...it was great!) Who knows, maybe it's something you'll think of doing once you finish your contract?
Anyway, I'm just trying to keep this post alive so that people will know that the class is available for them. So if you are interested, contact me. We practice every Saturday and some of us meet at other times.
The class is still every Saturday from 3-5:00, except this next. I'm taking a little trip out of town. Otherwise, the schedule is ver regular.
Namaste,

Yes, they are still going.
We practice in Seomyeon, at the Migliore, on the 5th floor, in Club Chicago, Saturdays 3-5:00PM. If you go to the Starbucks at Exit 5, you can stand in front of it such that the Lotte Department Store is to your left. To your right you'll see a mountain. In front of you is a major road. Follow that road toward the mountain until you see the Migliore. It is a large building with an outdoor stage.
It costs W10,000 for two hours and full access to the gym. The 5th time is free, so that cuts your cost to W7,500. I don't profit from it; the fee is to rent the space. I just enjoy meeting people who love to practice yoga. It is a good way to meet people and to learn a system of yoga. A few of the students are actually going to travel to India to certify in the style. But, don't think that you have to be flexible or a yoga guru to come and practice. Just come to enjoy yourself and to do something for yourself which is positive. |
