My laptop mic jack got fried and I can't Skype anyone. I assume it's an integrated sound card as it's a really low end Compaq, and I can't justify having it repaired. Here's where you come in:

I've decided to buy a new barebones desktop online, one which I can use for the Skype, doc creation and surfing. I want an LCD monitor and would appreciate your wisdom, knowledge, and links to buy the new one and have it shipped to my door. The cheaper the better.

This isn't what you want to hear, but you could buy an USB headset (with a microphone) and Skype as much as you want.
