|
|
I was curious how long peoples' individual classes are. I figured an hour-ish is the usual but, I just came across one job offer that was 2 hours for each class.
Which do you feel is better, shorter (i.e normal 1 hour) or longer?
I think that shorter classes are better personally, at least when it comes to learning English. Both from the standpoint of teacher and student. |

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by "individual" classes?
Is this teaching with a co-teacher present? |

No, the OP means teaching one student. |

1:1 outside of hagwon=one hour
1:1 inside hagown = 45 minutes
the shorter the better, of course. |

I just had an offer w. the same class times. It was 2 hours blocks with kids from "1st-6th grade". I don't even understand that from a money-making standpoint. Wouldn't you think that more classes = more $? |

Mine are 3 hours, which for me is the perfect amount of time. Long enough to get a whole bunch of things done, but not too long that students get sleepy.
I find short classes very ineffective. You barely have enough time to do attendance, check homework, and review last week's lesson before time's up.
For teaching or when I'm taking language classes myself, 3 hours is ideal. |
