My school (a regular Korean hagwon) is thinking about shutting down their English program, ostensibly putting us out of a job. The rest of the school is otherwise making money. We'll supposedly find out soon.
A few months ago ownership of our chain was sold to another chain, changing the school's name to something different than what's on my contract and E-2 visa stamp in my passport. No one told us anything about the sale, it was just a "name change"...
The school admin. has always been very decent with us but needless to say it could get interesting. This can of worms has not yet been opened.
Although I've read bits and pieces here a few times, can someone please remind me of what compensation we are due for being laid off 8 months into a year-long contract, time allowed to stay in the apt, and the most probable pile of crap I can expect maybe having to fight for it with an E-2 stamp that doesn't match the new name on the school?
Any advice/info would be much appreciated.

If they give you notice and sign a letter of release, there is nothing more you can do as that is all that they are legally required to do. |
