My friend wasn't able to do this through normal (national) post. They only accept standard boxes.

I'd imagine that the courier services would take them, although you'd have to pay well for it. Or you could go to the airport and ask people to carry it home for you. I'm sure that would work.

How big of a suitcase...are we talking carry-on or 30" rolling suitcase? That'll make a big difference.

Go to one of the stores and get some boxes. Try to ft it one or two boxes (jerryrig them if you have to) then take it to the post office and try to send it. Some of the post offices will custom make boxes for items. If you can't find a box or two to do it yourself...see if the post office can do it for you.

I think this is the only way you'll be able to do it really, short of paying someone to carry it on the plane with them which is tricky with the whole security issues.

AS long as your suitcase is under the maximum size restriction AND properly wrapped/packaged you CAN send it.

The maximum dimension as defined by Korea post is 2 linear meters and is described as:
length + height + height + width + width = 2 meters or less.

The maximum weight for surface mail shipping is 20 kilos.

Wrap it in brown paper or cover with cardboard and have it taped to prevent accidental opening.

Most suitcases are refused because they exceed the size restriction.
Your best bet to send it home is airfreight from your local airline.
You will meed to drop it at the cargo counter at the airport and someone will have to pick it up on the receiving end.

Next choice would be FEDEX or DHL or similar but the cost is astronomical (it would be cheaper to throw it away and replace it later).

Not necessarily. If you stand around and look sad/stressed about having to unpack your suitcase, and you help them tape and paper the suitcase (or maybe wrap it in brown paper and then use clear tape on every inch, at home), they will send it.

$45 or so for my big suitcase!
