How soon before my flight leaves to the US should I arrive at the airport in Seoul? It's on the Sunday before Christmas. What should I expect? Will ICN be a complete madhouse during the holidays. Will leaving out of Korea be a lengthy process? |

I've done it with no problem.
Arrived 3hr early and was fine.
X-mas in korea doesn't seem to be a big flight day.
But, tickets do seem to be a bit over priced
you should be fine |

3 hours early? I was thinking 90 minutes would be enough. Does anybody else out there have experience traveling out of the country around the holiday? |

I've travelled just before christmas four of the last five winters and getting there 3 hours beforehand was PLENTY of time, even with the slow, long lines.
You could do it in 2 hours, especially if you're one of those impatient rushed types at airports, as if that's the only way to be there.
Good luck whatever. |

2-3 hours is the current recommendation with the extra security checks now. I am leaving on that same day ... and while I do expect it to be busy with lots of flights booked out on the day ... I am hoping for no other problems ... I will be aiming to arrive 3 hours before the flight ... and would recommend that to anyone else who was travelling on the day .. because there are guaranteed long queues ... and it would be much worse to miss the flight than to have an hour or so to fill in at the airport after you get through the checkin / security check process ...
On the cost of flight question ... the Sunday before Christmas (23rd) on the airline I am flying wtih was the last day before the high season fares came in ... and by flying Singapore Airlines booked directly with them I actually ended up with a better price to Australia than I could get on any of the other airlines / discount websites... Actually cheaper than I paid to get here in March ...

Yes, why is it that flights are almost TWICE as expensive as in prime-time summer months? A one-direct flight Toronto to Seoul was almost $2000, whereas my last return trip was $1700 (during summer)....pretty nuts. (no I didnt pay 2 grand for a 1-way, decided to go through the states instead and save cash) |
