I'm thinking of taking a job in Mokpo. It's by the ocean and not so big, which is appealing, but will I be bored out of my mind, or would there be enough ex-pat hangouts to entertain me? |

It's a gritty port city. 3 1/2 hours to Seoul on KTX. |

I've several friends there, and they like it rather a lot. It has a lot of amenities for a relatively small port city, and it DOES have KTX service. |

Get a Lonely Planet and read about things to do there. It is a very remote place, most people are farmers. If you like countryside, then go for it. If you want to be near bigger cities, you'll be bored. |
