I guess the title of the thread explains it. I know us Americans don't get Thursday and Friday off like America since we are not in America, but are there any baked or fried turkey dinners happening in Changwon or Masan either Thursday night or this weekend?

I asked the 2 Americans I know locally and they didn't know. We were talking about doing our own, but we had no way to get a turkey or prepare one if we did find one. I know you can get them in Seoul, but it's 6 to 7 hours each way to that store from our home. I would just go to Seoul and have dinner if I were off since there are Thanksgiving dinners happening.

You can get turkeys off the base at jinhae...you have to get somebody to sign you in though.

You can also get them at Costco in Daegu but they are probably all sold out now.....

No thanksgiving dinner at my house being Australian and all but i do have a big oven. Cool

The Seamen's club in Busan in is hosting thanksgiving dinner. If you took the bus to Sasang terminal in Busan and a taxi, it would probably be under 1:30, and maybe closer to an hour for transit. Search forums on koreabridge.com for more info.

Hey Kat2 that sounds awesome, I would just go to Busan tomorrow if I didn't have to work as I know where the Seamans club is at. Too bad they are not holding it on Saturday, a day I am off and could make the 1 1/2 hour journey each way. It sure does sound like a good meal cooked in a real kitchen and it's open door where anyone can go. It goes until 10:30 PM, but you wouldn't get a bus back home until the next morning if you went late and then the next morning is a work day. I teach morning kindy and late afternoon elementary so I don't have time to make it on time.

It does say that Christmas dinner is also an open door day so I will probably make my way there as I am off and that is my first day of Winter vacation week.

Well, I am going for Samgyeopsal tomorrow night with a Korean friend, but I do have chicken, canned pumpkin to add cinnamon and sugar to, and canned cranberry sauce. I thought there would be some Thanksgiving dinner as many people I know do have ovens, but they are not American or are not inviting.

An oven baked dinner would be righteous regardless of when it is, but bread and pizza is all they use their ovens for around here.

Honestly, if i were you, I would take a taxi back to Masan. Sure it's far, but ify ou had 4 people with you, it wouldn't be that awful. From Busan to Ulsan is about 60,000 so it couldn't be too much more than to Masan. You could even take the subway or local Busan bus to the furthest point west to save a little bit of money, but just be sure you get there before the night taxi rates go into effect.

you can order a complete turkey dinner from the seamans club. i think they're taking orders for any day up till january. the only thing is you have to pay for it when you place your order. check out pusanweb for more info under the food section or you can call the seamans club. so you can at least get your turkey fix this weekend.
