I am a 28 American English teacher in Seoul, Korea. I've been here for almost 3 years. I plan on in a year marrying my young Filipino gf and bringing her with me to Seoul Korea to settle down more permenantly as I teach in the Seoul public school system hopefullyand have our family here and plan our future. The US, is not where I want to settle down. By the way, she speaks English and has a bachelor's too, so hope she can find a job too. If anyone has been in a similar situation as me... could you tell me the process of how to make sure that my wife and any children that I might have can legally stay in Korea with me, and is there any thing I should know about marriage or my soon to be wife given birth here in Korea? Any advice about longterm family living for a foreigner is appreciated.

The cost of a pregnancy can be expensive. I know from personal experience. I had complications and spent over $8000 US dollars which included prenatal care, a month of bedrest in the hospital, an emergency
C-section and my son being in NICU for 2 weeks. Just make sure you have extra money set aside. I took being healthy for granted and thought I would have a normal pregnancy. I'm not trying to scare you but be prepared. On the other hand, the doctors I had were amazing. We got treatment and service we would never have back in Canada. If I didn't think there would be the possiblity of having complications again, I would have another baby here. |

| If she has an American passport, she can get hired. If she has a Philippino passport, she cannot legally be hired as an English teacher, regardless of her degree. |

| Medical here can be cheap or very expensive. My wife had to be in bed for 7 months on an IV cause of complications. It was pretty expensive. Start saving now. |
