Hi! I've been lurking around this site for a while finding some really useful information on helping me find a job in Korea. NOW I'm finally on! I'm Liz, 22 from Texas. yeeeehhhaaw. LoL.
So here comes the part where I need help. I've searched for it already but couldn't find anything. I've been offered a public school job in Goyang City. I went through Netkorea. The lady who is helping me is amazing. (I've sent here abou 397297498724 emails already and she always answers them right away. She told me she has 20 positions in Goyang and she can secure me one. However, she cannot tell me where I will be because the placements are randomly assigned by the school board.
Is this customary for a pb job? She told me she will be able to tell me in Feb when they assign the jobs. Am I supposed to sign the contract now or wait until I get a complete one with the school name and location on it?
Thank you in advance for anyone who is reading and offers any advice!

Yep
Thats the way it's done. BUT, are you ready to be in such a small place? PS hire all over Korea. She may just have that POE contract to recruit form.
Good luck |

From what I have read, Goyang City is supposed to be pretty good. How small is it? I wanted to live around Seoul...and I thought Goyang wasn't too far away. Is this not the case?
I really want to live in Ilsan, so hopefully I will get a position there.
Thanks for the help! |

Then your fine it's a large satellite city around Seoul and Islan is there.
Many recruiters like to call satellite cities Seoul some are good some are bad. lol So sound like your on the right path. |

Goyang is less than 30 minutes from Seoul by bus. It's not on a subway line, though. When is the start date? SMOE (Seoul PS jobs) start in late Feb. Apply next month. |

Actually, the orange line goes into Goyang. It terminates in Daehwa, which is in Goyang. I believe 6 or 7 stops are in Goyang city limites. Ilsan is a district in Goyang and Jeongbalsan (i think) station is right in front of the Goyang Lotte Department Store which is in the Ilsan district. Only about 30 years ago Goyang and Ilsan were tiny tiny villages, now it has over a million people, but is considered a mere suburb, satelite city, or whatever you want to call it, to Seoul. |

Ilsan seems like the place for me.
I wanted a city, a decent westerner population, somewhere close to Seoul, and somewhere with a decent night life.
Hopefully I'll enjoy it come March! |
