Nope. Don't know him. But I will say it is kind of a peculiar letter. He contends that adults who have done time have paid their debt and their record is wiped clean. Not where I come from. In fact, the word 'record' means just that.

I'm sure many of us see no problem with required criminal checks before being allowed to teach minors. It's a reasonable precaution.

Is it just me / my computer, or is the formating screwed up on that site? I'm seeing lots of question marks and slashes where I guess other punctuation was meant to be.

Yep, Jag, that's the chap I think it is. Very off the wall, walks through life with a completly missing irony chip. That must be rather comfortable actually!

Just wondered if anyone had met him in the real world.

And he strikes again!

This time he says, and I kid you not, that criminals are not criminals.

But wait, just in case you're thinking that just doesn't make any sense, he has some advice for you: thinking is unrealistic.

Nor does having a criminal record guarantee that the person is a criminal or that they will continue to break the law.

The first part of that is fairly astounding. He must know people who go through life with a criminal record but who were not in fact guilty. That's possible: the few crooks I've met have all said they were innocent. Rolling Eyes

Never forget he is a fellow who prides himself on not being objective and who things rational is not the only option.
