I just paid about 700,000 Won (including tax) for a round trip ticket to Thailand on Korean Air this February using their homepage. Personally, I don't mind paying a little extra and avoiding the travel agents. I don't trust them much.

Seems a bit early to get the good deal if going in January or February, but if I were going in December, I would be shopping around to buy during the next week or two.

I am flying to BKK in the first part of January on a one way, then to America, and then back to Korea. I understand that once I get to BKK, then I can buy my ticket to America which will probably route through Tokyo.

The problem is if you wait too long you run the risk of the seats all being sold out or the price being jacked-up so high. However, as you say, sometimes the seats are priced lower at the last minute as not enough people booked. It's a "risky" situation sometimes to wait for a seat sale during peak season.

Depends on when your winter break is. I got a ticket this weekend for 650,000 on Air China for travel dates DEC30-JAN24. In Thailand, the "high season" is from November to May, so things are more expensive then.

My friend and I are going to Bangkok for the American Thanksgiving holiday. (Yes, I'm lucky enough to work for a school that gives us that holiday too!) I found Soho travel http://www.sohoholiday.com had great prices, and returns emails right away. We are paying 418,000 won round trip with taxes included. I had one of the Korean staff members at my school look around to see if she could find any better deals on Korean sites, and she said that no one had better prices. So far, I am very happy with this travel agency. Good luck!

I had the same problem when booking my flight to Paris in October (yeah, yeah i know, but I was stoked to book it and hopefully snag a deal) then I finally went with the Air France website and did snag a deal, the earlybird special was 500 000 won cheaper than what i was being quoted before. I paid up and have my ticket now (and of course just found some flights that are a wee bit cheaper, but at least i've got the peace of mind in knowing that i've booked far in advance and *hopefully* won't have a problem with my seat when flight time comes...plus air france lets you check in online and print your boarding pass, you just have to drop off your luggage at the counter!)

LOVE the online check ins....hell i'd just bring a carry on on the flight, however i'll be in PARIS for CHRISTMAS...dammit..and i'm a chick...who can't pack frugally. dammit!

Yes, i'm SO stoked to go!!

I have been emailing travel agencies since November 15th for a ticket to Thailand on January 4th and they are all ignoring me! Yes, ignoring me!

No words or replies. I guess they can't or don't want to quote it now.

Any have any ideas why they are not replying? Too early?

www.kangsantravel.com

I live in Busan so I went down there on Saturday and bought my ticket from her. Spending 6 weeks there so it's a bit more than usual (Dec 29 - Feb 11, 722k), but she was extremely helpful and didn't pull that usual travel agent BS by making me wait until the month before.

Don't ever believe the travel agents that say "the seats are all sold out." They're all lying. Whenever I board a plane to Thailand (even in the high season) there are always at least 20 empty seats.
