I've had it with these kids.
all they want is to watch movies. so I make worksheets about the movies they watch, they don't bother doing it.
I did pop song class with them, was okay but that is something that can be done once in awhile not all the time.
so now I'm not sure what to do with them anymore. |

| This week I'm doing a lesson on the history of English pop music that includes a listening excercise component. Next week will be Christmas cards. Then we'll do movies. I've been teaching MS long enough to know when serious stuff is pointless. |

| Make them behave or force them to study from the textbook some more. I teach creative lessons about culture and try to combat the xenophobia in this country. I play group games, too. Bring prizes like candy. There will be certain students that don't care. When this happens, tell the class there will be no game and no prizes until all the students listen/play/behave. This usually works. |

| I showed a movie to some of my classes a few weeks ago, with the expectation that they would finish their worksheet. In the classes where most of the students didn't do the worksheet I told them I wouldn't show them the rest of the movie after finals. Hopefully they learned a lesson |

i'm teaching a thanksgiving lesson and will be starting a christmas one soon. u can go over vocab, basic stuff in a ppt first then use one of the great class ppt games from http://www.esnips.com/user/gepikteacher
generally, the playing of the game should be about the same amount of time as the simple lesson (or they start to get bored)
there's some variety with the games on that site, and the kids love to see flashy computer stuff. i sometimes give out candy prizes, sometimes i don't bother, the kids don't notice with these games.
during the last week of school, i think i'll probably let them watch a movie and relax though |

| I am merely going through the formalities at this time. Exams are done, and even the Korean teachers are soft-peddling things, so I would be completely out of step if I kept up the pace. Things are relaxed now and in a couple weeks they get their movies. |

As am I. I'm doing one final lesson that will be on final exams for the first and second graders, then I'll have a week or two of no classes while students prepare for their test and then take them. They have two weeks after their tests where I'll just show them a movie or play games with them. |

I did a play,
Little Red Riding Hood last week.
Download it from OUP's ESL website, Classic Tales.
Students enjoyed it.
Sadly they head of English has whisked them away now until the exams are over to feed them the data that is required to pass. |
