Can you share the numbers of what exactly your final pay out added up to be for a 2 million Won a month job for 12 months?

I am expecting final months salary and severance.

I am thinking it should be in the neighborhood of 3.8 million after deductions. This is not considering pension, airfare, and tax return, but what your director should pay you. Is this correct?

Is it reasonable to ask for it a few days early or is it standard to be offered on the last day of your visa contract in cash? I negotiated to get agreement for being payed a day earlier as to allow me time to bank as in selling Won for dollars.

What is reasonable for airfare money? The cheapest fare the director states he/she can get or a set Won amount? I am taking the long way home instead of going directly home.

What about taxes? Is it correct that the employer files in January and then is supposed to wire you the tax return in March or April?

And then I know you file for pension refund once you have your air ticket purchased.

Anything I didn't list that I should be thinking about?

Please set me straight on the end of contract finances. Thanks in advance. This will not only help me, but others as this has not really been clearly documented in a post after doing a search and reading Daves for 1 1/2 years.

If you can, ask them to provide severence on a seperate cheque, even if paid on the same day. If they are both are on the same cheque, it raises your tax rate - big time.

So this all depends on thier accounting method of how they add it up since it is on the same day. They said they couldn't pay out until the evening before the last day since they had teachers take the money and run when paid early. I know my tax runs like 3.6% on monthly salary so I know how to calculate that.

Is severance taxed?

I will also ask for a pay statement as well. I am not in it for any last minute stunts; that's for sure. To my understanding there have not been any pay problems in my school and their are no bad reports so they should pay appropriately.

I just want to know what exactly to expect. This all makes me so nervous, even though I have no knowledge that they will do something unacceptable. If they do, I will set up a website all about it just to blacklist them when prospective teachers do Internet searches and find the truth.

What if I find a day before my flight that I need more time? I know the deadline for visa extensions is 3 days before expiration. Should I just go ahead and apply for the free 10 day extension?

What if I find I need to reschedule the flight my employer bought? Is it possible to change a flight you didn't purchase?

Oh, all these questions. People, please help me, not only me, but I am sure many others will need to know and better understand all these sorts of things.
