I imagine it's still too early, but I think the people who will feel a pinch from the new rules at first will be recruiters. I don't envy you in this.
How are you guys coping? |

My recruiter just called me today to talk about the new rules. I'm going to be working a public school job with GEPIK and everything is going fine. I have to get two transcripts, my diploma, a criminal background check, and have a passport. Other than that, she said with the new laws I can just get my medical check in Korea. I actually HAVE a diploma, so I don't see the problem with having to provide that.
Also, if a regular criminal background is what we need (instead of a F.B.I. check people like to talk about) it only costs $2 at my local police station and it available right when you walk in.
I don't see the hoops I have to jump through yet... |

Aren't you on an F2? Why are you so obsessed with visa regs that don't even apply to you?
I don't think it is going to be that bad. I'm a little behind Lizzie Hong in the process (no job yet for me) but I plan ahead, always, and I have noticed a similar lack of hoops. |

Are you talking about getting a criminal background check in the states? You can get it in 2 minutes on the spot? Which state is this?? |

This is what I found online. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas at the moment:
Citizens can obtain a copy of their criminal record at the front counter of the Central Records Division. A valid picture identification is required (driver's license or ID card). A birth certificate, temporary driver's license, and social security card can be used if no ID card is available. Mail request requires a notarized letter with a copy of a valid driver's license or identification card, and social security card.
The Fees are: $2.00 if no arrest record
$4.00 arrest history
$4.00 mail request regardless of arrest history
$1.00 each for additional copy |

The hoops we're worried about are the ones we have to jump through from Korea... and the conflicting answers we are getting from different immigration sources aren't helping |

I got my check from Oregon. Took 2 minutes as well. Went into the downtown police office in Portland, showed them my ID. Filled out a few papers and got 5 of the records. Paid my $5 and went on my way.
Did all that during my holiday back home, was told that my internet record check wasn't good enough heh. |
