I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out my visa options. I'm currently working in Korea on an E-2 visa and would like to get an F-4 instead. My father is Korean. The complicated part is that he's still a Korean citizen, even though he has lived in the US for the last 40 years or so. He never bothered to complete the paperwork required to get US citizenship, so he's a resident alien.

From what I can tell, you can only get an F-4 visa if your parents aren't Korean citizens, right? Do I have any other options here, or am I pretty much stuck with the E-2? Seems strange that having a citizen for a parent is working against me here.

I'll make it out to immigration as soon as I can, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If your father is still a citizen you may be able to claim your citizenship or already be a citizen rather than just gaining an F4 visa. Contact immigration directly.

If you are male and under 36 it WOULD require you to do your manditory 2 years of miltary service as well so be careful with your enquiries.
