Found another little dog here in Taiwan. Someone'd tied her(still in the puppy stage,) to some brush on a rocky shoal along the riverside park where I walk my dogs. She was bound around the neck with white plastic band, and choking trying to get away.

My other dog sniffed her out or else I wouldn't have noticed. Of course I released her, then thought What would be the purpose in me saving the poor pooch just to let it die of a miserable existence?

So I took her home and now have four dogs. My thoughts are that some things are divinely sent. When people see me and ask, they say "You're so kind." But I'm no sentimental sap.

I'm not out there on a crusade to save dogs. I just think that something's behind this all. There's nothing wrong with helping a needy animal here and there, and I believe it's almost a role to play I can't turn away from.

I wouldn't call it sentimental, therefore, to help and have a pet dog here in Asia. I believe it tests us, whether or not we live up to our compassion as conscientious citizens, those coming from the so-called enlightened civilizations concerning human and animal rights way back there in the democratic West.

So you saw a dog wearing a leash and collar, and you basically kidnapped it?
