Does anyone here know anything about the legalities/licensing/restrictions involved in starting an import venture?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I wondered this too, but found that tariffs and taxes are artificially high on imports as to protect domestic economic interests. It could take a long time and a lot of negotiation with government to get a venture off the ground as this is one protectionist economy. They don't want foreign products as to protect jobs and domestic producers profits, but they do love western styled everything as you can see. It's imitate instead of innovate or bring in the real deal.

If you have money to invest, then you will find what it is you are doing through Korean and western business consultants, professors, and others. There are plenty of people willing to talk if you got money and interest. It's unfortunate that few college graduates fresh out of business school can't use their knowledge due to lacking their own money to invest while we were all led on that companies would hire us to be agents to act on their behalf in business situations.

It doesn't matter if the taxes are high... western products are still sold and bought in korea, and the people who are importing them are still making a profit.
