As far as the background checks...I've never done this before, so I'm just wondering if I should get one from my local city, or state, or from the FBI? (I'm American).
The one from my local city would be only $5 and done within a day, but the Texas DPS says I have to pay a $15 fee and a $10 fee and get my fingerprints done and mailed in, etc. etc. and just a big hassle that might take awhile.
So, does it matter where it's from as long as it's in English? I wonder if the Koreans will even know any better? I'm sure the FBI one would take even longer and be more expensive! |

Up until today, Korean Immigration is giving out conflicting information, so in fact NOBODY knows. Believe me, the Texas procedure you describe is nothing compared to what it will be if they require FBI checks, as the FBI says this will take 28 weeks.
Also, as of today, Daegu Immigration was saying that Americans can get a criminal records check from the Embassy in Seoul. Funny though, the Embassy in Seoul says no, we can't. |
