I picked up 10 Thanksgiving dinners last week from the USO. I came across information about their service and put in a last-minute order. It was fantastic! Now that I've tried everything and it was great, I wanted to pass along this information to anyone not aware of it.

The menu:
sliced turkey (dark and light meat)
gravy
dressing (stuffing)
sliced ham (fresh and glazed)
mashed potatoes
sweet potato casserole
peas
dinner rolls (20 count)
various soft drinks (Snapple, full "real" Diet Coke cans, etc.)
pumpkin pie (10 slices)

My husband and I ended up having only six guests so the total number of diners was eight. I fixed up five more big plates of food over the weekend. Essentially, we ordered ten meals but were given enough food to feed 13 people. Yummy leftovers...

The food was quite good and at the bargain basement price of $13 a person (or Won equivalent). That's a big difference from other prices I researched that all hovered around the 300,000 Won mark. Also, the man who operates the service is such a nice guy and so accommodating. As something to keep in mind for next year, I recommend it for anyone that wants to enjoy an authentic Thanksgiving meal.

would have saved me $60...and I could have had a late dinner with friends instead of sitting in a really fancy restaurant by myself Rolling Eyes

I so was wanting some Thanksgiving dinner myself, but nothing was available locally in Changwon. Had I been off work, I could had gone to the Seamans club in Busan. I thought it kinda sucked not even having a chance to celebrate the holiday after work last Thursday with some Americans in the area. Seems like everyone stays to themselves around here.

The Seamans club will have an open door Christmas dinner which I'm going to since I will be off and by myself.

Are these dinners are only available in Seoul? Or are there other USOs, in particular near Changwon? Thanks.

I saw on this forum that you were looking to get together with people for the holiday. I wanted to invite you to share an American-style meal at my home. Then I saw you lived in the southern half of the country (I live in Anyang). Stinker.

I checked the USO Korea website and it seems there are only two operating USOs in the country, one in Seoul (Camp Kim) and one in Dongducheon (Camp Casey).

I'm not sure if the USO offers the same meal pickup service for Christmas, but you can e-mail Michael Maddox. He's the Canteen Manager and he's a very nice man. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Please see his e-mail address below along with a link about the USO locations.

Did they move to Itaewon yet?
I hear they are closing Camp Kim. Although the USO is only adjacent to it, I heard that when they close Camp Kim the USO would be moving to Itaewon....
