Just a question to help out with my MA.
For those working in international schools / foriegn language elementary / middle / high schools, to what extent do you believe that both English and Korean are treated equally within those schools, or is one language preferred over the other? Is English or Korean preferred one way or the other either in the curriculum or even on an ideological level? I'm looking at the linguistic imperialism of the English language and its effect on the Korean language, within 'bilingual' schools. |

At my FLHS, my program is all English, but the students have an entire Korean curriculum as well.
Brutal for them, but those are the laws of the land, apparently. |

would you care to explain a little about this? do you mean there are two entire curriculums for each subject? |

Not quite every subject, but they do the full Korean curriculum (by SMOE rules) and then our curriculum (AP classes, but not a full slate of courses, just four or five). They have class until 10 pm.
PM me if you want more detailed info. |
