I've prepped up a lesson for my 2nd grade HS boys class using TV ads as the theme. I've put together 2 simple questionnaires to be filled in with each viewing.

The first asks general questions about the product, brand, audience and use of cathphrases/slogans etc while the second asks the students to write down any 'associated' vocabulary (Washing powder ~ washing machine, clothes, drier etc) and to describe both the explicit message and the implicit messages contained within the ad.

I'm going to be teaching it in about 30-minutes and am looking forward to it.

I've put together about 8 modern looking TV commercials (Sony, Audi R8, Fosters, Guinness, Halo for the x-box and Pantene) which I thought would appeal to teenage boys. However, I was going to use this one for Cadbury, but I haven't the faintest idea what it means.

Arrow See for yourself.

Any ideas?

The penny has dropped with regards to the Cadbury drumming gorilla ad.

As the ad seems to be so at odds with chocolate, I think it's simply to get people talking about the ad and thus, the product.

There is a brilliant new ad in the states for Bud LIght. It has guys saying "dude" with different infelctions in all kinds of situations. It would be great to teach to an advanced class to discuss inflection and tone.

Another Arrow beer ad. Though this time Australian. Funny, but I'm not sure how it would go down in a Korean classroom.
