today I opened up my powerpoint jeopardy game from last year and started updating some questions and decided to add an entire new board (re: double jeopardy). Last year I used powerpoint 2003 but had upgraded office to 2007 in the interim.

Editing and saving regularly (every 2 minutes or so) I made a fair amount of progress. After about 90 minutes I decided to step away from the computer for a bit and closed powerpoint. That was a mistake. when I reopened the file I got some file corrupted error and every second slide (100+ total) was deleted and all links were broken.

Cursing I started to rebuild everything as I need this file for tomorrows lesson. This time around I saved as about every 10 minutes and ended up with file1.pptx file2.pptx file3.pptx etc... Again when I closed powerpoint the file was corrupted along with all the earlier versions. Damn and double cursing I started again.

This time around I saved the file as a ppt (and lost some formating options) saved as several times and closed powerpoint after each save. Everything is working fine on my desktop as well as my laptop. Obviously there's a major problem with the new file format of pptx - damn thing cost me about 6 hours of time.
