I just went through a phone interview for a school in Seoul that has a pretty good reputation and pays above average. The phone interview seemed to go pretty well, but they said they'd get back to me in a week or so.

When I've interviewed in the States and I heard this, I knew it meant "Sorry, you didn't get the job." Is it the same way in Korea, or might we still expect a contract offer in a week or so?

When you had your first phone interview from overseas, did they offer you the job over the phone, or did you have to wait?

Thanks!

if it was your second interview then you probably didn't get the job. If it was the first interview, give them some time they need to make a shortlist and then get back to you for a second interview or offer.

My first job (a college) was by phone. The next day I had an email saying they wanted me. My second job (a college) was in person. Signed the contract at the end of the interview. My third and current job (a university) was by phone. The next day they called and said they wanted me. Things happen very fast in Korea, but one never knows. For example, from the time the add appeared on the cafe to their saying they wanted me (for current position) was 6 days. But I am sure that is not common, so hang in there.
