OK F-2 haters, throw yer best punch. I realize envy creates a lot of hate and bitterness. Take yer best shot!

I don't hate people with F visas. I just wonder why having one precludes jumping through the hoops like the rest of us.

It makes perfect sense to me. An F visa is a citizenship visa. They can't make citizens fly back to their "home countries" for checks because Korea IS their home country. Right? Am I missing something?

The majority of F visa holders are ethnic Koreans.

I understand that. What about the ones that aren't?

I think another side of this coin should be considered: think of all the lucky Korean girls who have been suddenly proposed to by their
F-2-seeking English boyfriends.

"Want to get married?"
"I thought you'd never ask!"
"How about this weekend? You free?"

I see your POV. But you are barking up the wrong tree with complaints like that.

Heh my gf brought it up. Said are there other visas besides an E-2? I said well were I a professor I could get one. Then she said well my mom was talking about marriage.

I said :

1. You're at least a year too soon to even suggest that.

2. I won't marry to get a visa to work in Korea. I'm not some piss poor 3rd worlder trying to work in the West. Sorry that one sounds harsh but I know that's what we would think.

Which is why I said I don't hate the people with F visas in the first damn place. I don't hold them responsible for all this E2 nonsense.

Wow, that's a harshly judgmental over-generalization about immigration in general (inside and outside of Korea).

It also reeks of "Occidental Arrogance".

Do e2 visa holders hate f2 visa holders? I wasn't aware. Hey, you found both a wife and employment here vs back at home. Super!

You're missing something. It is NOT a citizenship visa, it is a marriage visa. If you were a citizen of Korea (and not just a resident as most of us are), you would have no need for visas at all.

Heh slice it the way you will, I stand by my comment. I'm all for marrying someone you love and immigrating. But to rush into a marriage to get an F visa to work? Nah it's basically just like I said.
