Good luck finishing up.

Just curious. Did your thesis advisor get a look at the questionnaire before you sent it out?

I'm really just curious. I often see people asking for teachers to complete a survey for their research/essay/masters etc.....

What I don't get is how this survey can be reliable at all? Or how any advisor would admit it. Simply because it lacks verification and control.

For any information to be accurate, it must be verified and especially nowadays with the proliferation of the internet, it really is "unethical" and unreliable to use public survey information for anything but the most casual of conclusions. Anyone and his mother could fill out the survey and skew results. Even if the survey is qualitative, this can happen.

Reminds me of a story. Harvard a number of years (in the beginning of email) was having an important exam. One of the students who wasn't ready, sent out a group email, forged to seem like it was from the head of the department, saying the exam was postponed. Only half the students showed up. The other half said they believed it was real because IT WAS FROM A COMPUTER. If it had been a note slipped under their door, they wouldn't have believed it. The culprits were never caught and the exam had to be postponed.

So I'm just curious. Is the survey only a preliminary thing to further qualitative interviews/observation?
