Got a call from my Best friend back home! Pretty shocking...
He filed for divorce from his wife that he was married too for 7 years, quite his job where he made over 100 000. He gave up his dog, his house, his BMW and he even lost some friends.
He did all this to be with a girl from China!! That he met on a business trip which he only spent a day with. He has been in contact with her over the last four months though. He is now heading to China to leave and work to be with this girl.
The strange thing is this guy has been the most loyal and stable guy I've ever known. He threw it all away...He hurt his wife which is his only real regret, but....he says he is in love. I'm happy for him and all, but it was huge.
What do you think? Could you do this? |

Wow...Cupid's random arrows, eh? What a massive headfu*k for the dude and his poor wife.
I was married, ish, for about six years, and in that time fell in love with somebody who loved me too but stayed with the 'wife' because I was trying to do the right thing. The other girl went back to Germany, and a few years later me and my longterm broke up, amicably.
I still kind of wonder though what would've happened had I gone with what my heart, rather than my guilt trip, told me was right.
The old saying 'amor vincit omnia,' 'love conquers all,' is often misread as a Hallmark card in which love is a magical fluffy bunny who makes the world go 'round. This is wrong: love is a destroyer, a mad drunken freakshow who makes people do incredibly stupid and vicious stuff every bit as often as it makes people do 'the right thing.' But hey! It's more fun than being limp and cold and analytical. Spock can take a flying fack at a rolling donut.
IMHO. |

| Sounds like he's making the mistake of his life. I bet this Chinese fling will crash and burn very very soon. |

Heavens to betsy? As my grandma says.
Anyways, not too sound too harsh....but...that sounds really crazy and is an awful lot to give up for such a "fling".
How do you feel about that? He has hurt friends and his wife to just suddenly leave with this woman he in all honesty can know only a very little about.
Maybe marriage is outdated... |

Just said that so maybe I wouldn't get responses from just guys!
Yeah! Supposedly he asked her to marry him as well. Funny thing is he was never attracted to Asia girls and look now....... |

I think it's absolutely awful that he abandoned his wife, who probaby expected that he had committed to her for life, for some girl that he met for a mere day!
I think the "other woman" is at fault too - I think it's pretty terrible that she went after a married man. Maybe he'll meet another woman in a year or so, and abandon her just like he did his poor wife!
I'm married myself and, frankly, your story respresents my worst nightmare! |
