My sojourn expires in less than 2 weeks. My contract expires at the beginning of March. The reason why my sojour expires is because of my passport having to be renewed. I'll be picking my new and old passports up this week.
Apparently I can go in and extend the sojour myself. Is this true? If so, for how long can I extend it? Do they go by the contract at immigration? My boss is the one who went in and had my sojourn extended last March, but he could only extend it until December because of the passport expiring.
Does immigration need a new contract when extending a visa for another year? |

You can extend your current sojourn to the end of your contract.
You can extend your sojourn for up to 1 full year with a new contract.
You can do it yourself BUT you need some documents from your school:
-copy of the business registration
-guarantor paper
-your ARC
-copy of current (if just extending to the end of the contract) or
-copy of the new contract (if you are extending longer)
-Your passport
-Appliation
-30K won
(perhaps some new hoops (medical / CRC) due to the new regs, perhaps not because there has NOT been a determination on the specifics yet.) |

Thanks.
I could probably just go in with my passport, ARC, and the letter they sent me advising my that my sojourn is expiring soon. They'd have anything else they need there. And immi is in my town.
Can your boss extend your sojourn past the current contract finish date without a new contract? I think so. |

No, you can only be extended until your contract completion date.
You can extend past your current contract completion date with a simple 1 page amendment to your contract with new dates - provided you both sign / stamp it. |
