Ah Islam....so many problems...

Why is it NOT ok to name a teddy bear (a very cute teddy) after a prophet but it's OK to burn an effigy of the pope?

It certainly gives one 'paws' for thought. It's really not 'fur'. It's almost too much to 'bear'. etc

Then again we have Christians in Africa attacking people for being witches.

This sounds clever but its really not an accurate comparison in terms of scope, is it?

Well, one has to wonder how far they can advance when they scare off all of their educators by doing this kind of thing?

I hope ever single foreigner leaves that country, and 100 years from now, they're still a backwater.

Now the Muslim faithful are crowding the streets of Khartoum demanding her death.

Ya know, it's more sordid than a Harold Pinter nightmare or a scene cut from Monty Python's Life of Brian and yet seems to have no limit. Anyone who insists that the Muslim world isn't in a bad way is dissembling or delusional.

And let's not forget the three lovely Iraqi men who poured gasoline over that young boy's head and then lit in on fire just because his parents happened to be from another religious sect.

Y`know, don`t get me wrong, those people are balls-to-the-wall insane with how sensitive they are any time someone even mentions Mohammed (blessings and peace be upon him) but I gotta say, she shoulda known better. Especially after the riots and violence that resulted from that political cart a couple years ago, you`d think people would know by now that you just can`t mess with the name of Mohammed without thousands of radicals burning you in effigy and demanding your head on a stick. Ya just don`t do it. No, I`m not saying it`s her fault; I`m just saying she shoulda known those people are crazy.

Btw, before anyone thinks I`m a Muslim hater, let me say I certainly don`t think they`re all crazy; just the ones who burn you in effigy and demand your head on a stick for naming a teddy bear after their prophet.

From what I've heard, it was the kids idea to name the bear Muhammed, and the teacher just went along with it, thinking it would be okay since it's a common name anyway. My own guess is that the parents were afraid of being threatened by the local religious hotheads, so preempted an attack by shifting the blame to the teacher.

That said, anyone who's been paying even cursory attention to Muslim issues the last few years should really have thought twice about naming the bear after the Prophet, regardless of whether or not the students thought it was a good idea.

Don't worry, mate - I don't think you're a Muslim hater. I just think you're an idiot.

She could have had six months and lashes and a fine, and she only got 15 days and deportation, Boulos said. He noted that she would only spend 10 days in prison, having already served five.

All things considered, and assuming that nothing really bad happened or will happen to her in prison, this pretty much amounts to a token sentence anyway. Sounds like Sudan was having a sort of "F*cking USA" lashing-out moment.

(Not literally the USA of course.)
